Retinoblastoma is a unique malignancy. Unlike most of the solid tumors of the human body, retinoblastoma tumors can be directly visualized and examined. In-depth understanding of the clinical features, indications for appropriate imaging and protocol-based treatment for retinoblastoma have proven to be valuable in managing this intraocular malignancy. The treatment options for retinoblastoma have evolved significantly and now strive for better globe and visual function salvage. There is, however, an undeniable disparity in presentation, accessibility of care, patient compliance and outcomes seen between the developed world and developing or under-developed parts of the world. This book has been designed keeping in mind the current world-wide scenario on retinoblastoma. Experienced contributors from different parts of the world have been invited to address the important aspects of retinoblastoma, namely epidemiology, tumor biology and genetics, clinical diagnosis, treatment options and recent advances in research. Each chapter is aimed at providing evidence-based knowledge via text and illustrations.
