Abstract

Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase is a protein classified as oxidoreductase, previously known only for its participation in the glycolysis process (it converts G3P into 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate). At the end of the 20th century, however, it was discovered that it is a multifunctional enzyme that is also responsible for iron transport, regulation of gene expression, cytoskeleton formation, protein phosphorylation, cell apoptosis and RNA stabilization.
