Depression is not uncommon in the elderly. Psychotic depression, a major subtype of depression is more commonly seen in the elderly than in younger patients with depression. Evidence indicates that psychotic depression in the elderly is associated with specific clinical, neurobiological and neuropsychological changes and has a worse prognosis than depression without psychosis in the elderly. This book reviews the epidemiology, clinical features, neurobiology, neuropsychology, assessment and treatments for this important psychiatric disorder in the elderly. (Imprint: Nova)
