VLADIMIR D. SHILTSEV got his PhD in accelerator and beam physics from Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (Novosibirsk, Russia) in 1994 and later had visiting positions in Germany and in the US. Since joining Fermilab in 1996 he was the head of the world’s leading Tevatron Collider, founding Director of the Accelerator Physics Center and is now a Distinguished Scientist. He authored two books and more than 350 publications on various topics of particle accelerators, and received several prizes and awards from the American and European Physical Societies and the George Gamow Award from the Russian-American Science Association.
