In this book, social entrepreneurship is characterized as an activity aiming at solving social problems and improving social welfare. Various research approaches to the study of social entrepreneurship are presented. Entrepreneurship is studied as an activity to create new configurations of development factors as socio-technological and socio-organizational innovations. The results of research on the competencies of social entrepreneurs are presented, as well as the results of comparative studies on the development of infrastructure to support social startups and social entrepreneurs. This book covers a wide range of issues, from the analysis of the development of the concepts of “empresa” and social entrepreneurship, to the characteristics of the results of social entrepreneurship practices in various countries, as well as professional development programs for social entrepreneurs and programs of infrastructure and grant support for social projects and social startups.
